Private Calling Room
A private, room-code based voice and video calling app for gaming partners.
Android (React Native)
The problem
Calling a gaming partner usually means exchanging phone numbers or routing through a third-party platform like Discord, which is more setup and more shared personal info than two people who just want to voice-chat during a match actually need.
The solution
A calling app built around private, code-based rooms — one person creates a room, shares the code, and the other joins directly into a live voice/video call. No contact list, no account linking between two people, no extra platform in the middle.
What's in it
- Room-code based call access — no phone numbers exchanged
- Real-time voice and video over WebRTC
- Built for quick, low-friction session-based calls rather than persistent contact management
Technology
The hard part
WebRTC connection reliability across different network conditions (mobile data vs. Wi-Fi, NAT traversal) is the recurring hard problem in any peer-to-peer calling app, and this project was no exception — getting call setup to work consistently took more iteration than the UI did.
Where it stands
Live and published, used for real private calling sessions between gaming partners.
